CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Corporate Social Responsibility is a business model by which entities like schools and organisations make a concerted effort to operate in ways that enhance, rather than degrade society and the environment. CSR programs aim to give structure to a company's efforts to give back to the community, participate in philanthropic causes and provide positive social value. CSR also helps in improving society and promote a positive brand image of the entities.
As we learn and understand more about the impact of human interaction with the environment, our young and eco-conscious citizens at Prime Academy are overwhelmed with the fact that they can save trees by collecting used Tetra Packs. They are taught about the importance of saving the planet through the conservation of water, natural resources, flora and fauna, afforestation, avoiding using non-recyclable items, pollution and much more. The collection of empty Tetra Pack cartons, old batteries, used pens, etc inculcates the practice of recycling at a tender age which is bound to become a part of their lives. Students are also taught to recycle, reuse, refuse and reduce the usage of daily items to build sustainability.
Composting is the natural process of recycling organic matter, such as leaves and food scraps into a valuable fertilizer that can enrich soil and nourish the plants. The future will either be green or not exist at all. This truth lies at the heart of humanity’s most pressing challenge, namely to learn to live in harmony with nature on a genuinely sustainable basis. To give a hands-on experience and create awareness among the students, Prime Academy has initiated a composting programme with outdoor compost bins installed in the campus. This programme engages students of all ages and a great amount of the school’s organic waste is diverted from landfill and transformed into compost. In this way we instil the habit of recycling and creating awareness about its benefits to the next generation through school’s recycling activities.
Environment and deforestation are a global issue in the present scenario and various activities are undertaken to sensitize students on environmental issues. Prime Academy takes great pride in being an eco-conscious school and believes that each one of us must play our part in securing a brighter and greener future for our future generations. Under the guidance of our principal, Ms. Rehana Kazi, students of Prime Academy participated in the plantation drive by planting saplings in Bharatvan Garden, Andheri East, with the sole aim of lending support to Maharashtra government’s tree plantation initiative. Students exhibited great enthusiasm in the drive as they we were confident that their small step would renew ground water reserve, prevent soil erosion, increase oxygen levels, reduce pollution, enable better rainfall and bring back the birds and insects in the eco-system.
